Inspiring work

The Company of Biologists is a great organisation with an odd name. It was created to support the work of biologists – giving them a place to publish their work and forming a community of scientists who could share their thinking and support their colleagues. With its five journals competing to attract the best pieces of research, the Company needed to be seen to be relevant and different. That’s where we came in.

We led the Company of Biologists through a process of discovery. We explored how they presented themselves to the outside world. We held workshops to define their difference. We conducted a logical analysis and arrived at a credible and imaginative hypothesis – a brand built around the idea of support and inspiration.

With a clear definition in place we led a pitch process to select a design agency that could bring the brand to life. We worked closely with them, focusing on the brand voice, brand architecture and key communications to ensure that there was clarity across all of the products and services of the Company.

The launch was linked to the Company’s move to new offices. This gave us the opportunity to firmly establish the new brand and to instil a new sense of pride in the Company of Biologists. We continue to work with the Company to keep their brand on track.
